Pro Kennex UTR Tennis Event

Adam Tilbury, a Grade 7 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School, took part in the Pro Kennex UTR Tennis Event at Kershaw Park in Pietermaritzburg, from 28 to 29 November 2020. Adam was the runner up in the Under 14 Singles section and was the winner in the Under 14 Doubles section.

 

ROAG KZN Trail running series

Charli Mlotshwa, a Grade 7 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School, competed in the ROAG semi virtual trail running series, over the last 3 months. The semi virtual races were incorporated in the overall ROAG series to achieve the minimum number of races for the year. Charli won the virtual series for his age group and was the overall winner.

Charli also took part in the ROAG short course series at Karkloof, Illovo Eston, Wartburg and Drak Gardens, where he won his age group and was overall winner of the 8km trail run.

 

KZN Schools Squash

KZN Schools Squash completed three of the four compulsory tournaments for 2020 before the country went into isolation for COVID-19. Only one final trial round of trials was left and that was to finalize their positions in the teams.

Laddsworth Pupils Aiden McNeill (Grade 5) and Lily Strydom (Grade 4) qualified for selection and would have been selected for the Inter-Provincial teams if COVID-19 had not intervened in the selection of the 2020 teams.

 

KZN Midlands Youth Choir

Kendra Tongue, a Grade 7 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School, has been selected for the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands Youth Choir. She attended the KZN Midlands Youth choir camp, which was held at the Golden Harvest Conference Centre in Nottingham Road from 01 December to 04 December.
Kendra also just received her Music Theory results from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music and she passed the Grade 3 Music Theory exam with a Merit of 87%.
Laddsworth is very proud of Kendra’s musical and choral achievements and wish her all the best for her high school career.

 

Gold Medal for Gymnastics

Lily Smit, a Grade 5 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School, took part in the Glenwood Invitational Rhythmic Gymnastics Competition on Saturday, 14 November 2020.

Lily performed a Level 3 Free Dance and received a Gold Medal. She came First in Level 3. Lily also achieved the highest score out of all the Level One to Three competing gymnasts.

 

Laddsworth Cubs receive Leaping Wolf Badge

Laddsworth pupils Eben van Eeden (Grade 5) and Tayla Street (Grade 4) were awarded their Leaping Wolf Badges in October 2020. Eben and Tayla are members of the 1st Hilton Scout and Cub Group. The Leaping Wolf is the highest badge a Cub can achieve.

As part of Tayla’s Leaping Wolf project, focused on the need for early childhood development for school readiness in children. Prior to lockdown, Tayla spent Saturday mornings with the young children at the Salvation Army Children’s home and used her own occupational therapy exercises to design a programme that would be fun for pre-schoolers. She also encouraged her Cubs group at First Hilton to donate baby formula, nappies, cream, soap etc to the Salvation Army.

Eben focused on Quality Education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all and donated books and bottle tops to Singakwenza. For his Personal Challenge he sailed a Halcat by himself, with dad as crew member.

 

American Ballet Performance Awards

Laddsworth Ballet dancers, Camilla Conway and Amy Goddard, took part in the American Academy of Ballet Performance Awards on Saturday, 14 November 2020.

Camilla Conway (Grade 4) was awarded a Silver with Distinction for Level 4 American Academy of Ballet.
Amy Goddard (Grade 7) was awarded Gold with Distinction for Level 7 American Academy of Ballet. She also received a Mignon Furman Award, which is a Scholarship to attend the AAB Summer School 2021 in New York or Winter Online School 2020/2021.

Victorian Day at Laddsworth

Laddsworth Primary School Grade Three pupils held Victorian Day on Thursday 22 October 2020. Pupils transformed themselves into stylish Ladies and Gentleman. They enjoyed many Victorian activities including ink and quill writing, games and a picnic on the lawn.

 

Laddsworth Grade Twos have a ‘Wacky Wednesday’

Laddsworth Primary School Grade Two learners enjoyed a 'Wacky Wednesday" on Wednesday 21 October 2020. The day was inspired by the book Wacky Wednesday written by Dr Seuss. The learners enjoyed lots of 'wacky' activities during the school day and they had lots of fun finding what was backwards or upside down.

 

Laddsworth Primary School Celebrates Heritage Day

On Wednesday, 23 September 2020, Laddsworth celebrated South Africa’s rich and diverse cultures, with the learners dressing up to reflect their cultural heritage.
